50 mpg!

Just wanted to share this. Looks like these cars can get pretty amazing fuel economy. This was at about 62 MPH.

I consistently get 45 mph at 72 mph straight highway driving. If I went down to about 60 mph I think it would get pretty close to 50 mpg , but I just can't drive that slow on a highway for long periods of time. The fuel economy on my car has been great .

If you don't mind please include how you were driving and what things you were doing and what things you might have avoided doing in order to achieve this. Always curious what factors in with each situation. Might help someone else here weed out bad habits.

Not hard to get 50mpg at only 33 miles into the reset, what you get after 330 miles is whats impressive.

Good point.

That's the tough part but at least in the process with you being conscious of what you are doing at all times it build in good habits since you can't be rushing to get that sort of range.

^ I get 45 mpg (US units) on straight highway drives of at least 4 hours driving (about 300 miles long), driving with cruise control on and set at 70-72 mph. Driving in D mode, with econ button activated, cool weather sunny , low wind conditions, 89 octane fuel , (perhaps winter gas has already come to our area ), two adults in vehicle, HVAC set to auto.

When you do, if you can keep track of the various things you do with the vehicle that will impact your MPG rating, things like; radio on? AC/Heat on? driving habits, etc.

Some people I know keep a journal with them for tracking MPG's, might be too much work for some people here.
