The Civic take another step towards Accord-Lite with Honda's plan for Civic Hybrid...

From AN:

When the Civic is redesigned, the hybrid version will move from its one-motor IMA system to a two-motor system, which allows extensive electric-only driving. One motor powers the wheels; the other recharges the batteries. It will be a cheaper version of the same system that is in the Accord Hybrid.

Great improvement.
The improved hybrid system should help position them better among the competition and quite possibly end up being one of the better hybrids on the market.

Now I just wonder what this may do to cost on our end.
Nothing unless you're buying one... Honda aren't rookies when it comes to hybrid power. If they're sharing systems it means costs are being amortized quicker which logically would say no pass through of hidden costs...

OR maybe thats exactly why they ass the costs on to further increases the margins??

Honda UK is claiming the 10th gen hybrid is going to be as important as VTEC was for them in the past... LOFTY statement

There’s also likely to be a hybrid version. “We’ll come back with a class-leading hybrid powertrain in the next five years,” said Crossman, “and it’s likely to make as much impact as the VTEC valve system.”

Crossman admitted that Honda has fallen behind with hybrids, despite being the first manufacturer to launch one, with the Insight coupé.
