10th Gen Honda Civic Type R Imagined

With the recent reveal of the 10th Gen Civic hatchback it was only a matter of time until someone created a rendering of what the Type R could look like and that someone is X-Tomi.

Not much is known about the next-gen Civic Type R turbo lag-free engine but we can expect to see some pretty solid specs since its segment competitors have gotten a lot better, especially Ford’s new focus RS.

The current Type R has a 310 PS output and 295 lb-ft of torque for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 5.7 seconds. This makes the current gen’s Type R just 2 seconds slower than the Focus RS. Maybe the 10th Gen Civic Type R will be able to remove that time difference and potentially beat the RS’ sprint time.

Once the new Type R is in production it will be sold globally and make its way into North America to compete against a few other rivals like the VW Golf R and the Peugeot 308 GTi. For now, we can take a peek at what the 2017 Type R could look like.

If the way they eliminate turbo lag is anything like what McLaren did to its P1 hypercar, it will elevate Honda to new heights:

The electric motor can be deployed manually by the driver or left in automatic mode, whereby the car's ECUs 'torque fill' the gaps in the petrol engine's output, which is considered turbo lag.
