2016 Civic sedan Touring or wait for Si sedan?

Hi guys, I currently own a BRZ and I have a baby on the way so I'm planning on trading in my BRZ for a sedan. Originally I was going for the 2016 Accord, but then I saw the 16 Civic and I was impressed! I think it will be perfect for my needs! The question is just, should I get the TOURING that's coming this month? or should I wait for the Si sedan? what would be the PROS and CONS of both trims? Would the Touring>SI or would it be SI>Touring? Thank you in advance :)

Haha man, this is basically my story as well. Going to have a baby in a couple months and my accord coupe won't work too well. Thought I was definitely going 2016 Accord, and then they unveiled the new civic.

So there hasn't been any info yet on the Si, some speculate that its getting a detuned 2.0t from the type R. I'm hoping they add an auto as an option. Info on the Si should be here within the next few months.

As far as the differences, the Touring is basically all the options, leather, premium sound, honda sensing, navi, led headlights etc. It will have the 174hp 1.5L turbo with a cvt trans.

The Si will have more power and be more geared towards the enthusiast with suspension tweaks. However it most likely will not have leather, navi, sensing standard.

IMO I'm waiting to see if the Si has an auto trans, if not I will be looking more at the Touring.

Depends on what your wants/needs are...

Touring:
More standard features
Leather interior
Softer/more comfortable ride
Better fuel economy
CVT automatic

Si:
More power
Sportier/harder ride
Lower price tag than touring
6 Speed Manual (no automatic confirmed)
Sportier appearance

Since you're coming from the BRZ i'd say you should lean towards the Si sedan... i think it'll be more of what you're used to and want in a car while still being plenty capable of being a people mover and good daily driver. BUT, if you want all the fancy features and an automatic transmission as well as better fuel economy then the Touring might be a better option. If price is a thing, the Si will most likely be cheaper than the touring by a few thousand dollars, but insurance and gas will cost you more. Then there is also the wait till spring to get an Si at the earliest versus being able to get a touring in a month or so...

Just depends on where your priorities are. We also don't have much info on the next gen Si... it might have automatic transmission option, and there could be more than one version... a "stripped down" model similar in features to the EX and a premium version that has the Touring features. We don't know yet... definitely would wait for the Si to debut and find out what is going on with features and such on that car.

Hey man welcome to the boards and congrats on the new family!

The other two seem to of pretty much covered most of what you would want to know. The Touring could also be a better option for you as it will certainly be sprung softer, and will most definitely be quieter. BUT, if the Si is offered with conventional auto (eff CVT) or a DCT I say go for it...

Thanks for the replies guys!, Its a tough choice! so basically the Touring is the TOP trim with more features, and the SI is cheaper yet more sportier... I think its worth waiting for the Si specially if it gets a DCT or atleast a CVT. Also, I kinda want to get the car ASAP so I can get more out of my BRZ when I trade it in. I'm worried about the value going low if I wait a couple more months, possibly half a year....
You will likely have to wait say six months to be able to get an Si. We really don't know yet but the coupe has not been revealed yet, and it will have to be revealed and then released before the Si has a chance of hitting the dealers. Best bets are Feb March from people watching, but really we are in the dark at this point.

I'd say it's safe to say it will not be out this year.
And those time frames are when you will be able to finally order one. Could take an additional few months to see one after order.
I'm starting to worry that Honda might not show the coupe or Si at SEMA. The show opens on the 3rd of November and we're less then a month out. Typically there would of been an announcement already...

Not necessarily... we've got a few big autoshows coming up before the end of this month and during november that the coupe/si could debut at... at least the coupe as it SHOULD be on sale by december... at latest january.

Since the Si isn't due till spring i could see them potentially waiting until an autoshow early next year to debut.
What are the big auto shows coming in the beginning of next year? I'm more aware of the ones in the fall and winter.
NAIAS is a big one, New York, and there are some others I can recall.

Hey Guys and Gals,

Nothing official yet on the Si but word is that it might be a reworked 1.5T making a little over 200HP. We still expect it to come with a 6 Speed manual only, which is why the EX-T, EX-L and Touring are not available with the manual.

As far as big Auto Shows for the remaining of the year go, its usually SEMA followed by the LA Auto Show.

Whether to buy the Touring or the Si?

Go for the Touring if you want a sporty, yet luxurious ride. The family would appreciate the Touring more. They are at another level than the rest. I sit next to a Touring Accord all day and having sold Lexus I can confidently say that the build quality is not far behind. Remember, the Audi A3 was the benchmark for that car.

Get the Si if you want a manual. Its as simple as that.

I had a feeling it would be the 1.5T...keeping a bit of exclusivity for the 2.0T in the CTR :D have you heard anything about debuts or on sale dates?
