Alright guys, as we all know, the Civic Type R Prototype has been displayed at the Paris Auto Show. I think we can all agree, this looks insane. I've seen the "colour" get called various names, but I think I can sit content with "Smoked Brushed Aluminum". I've attached a snippet close up of the paint so I would like to hear what you think it is, or if you've heard the official name, please let me know ;)

As for modifications, we can undeniably see:

Carbon Fiber front lip
Carbon Fiber side skirts
Carbon fiber rear diffuser
Red pin-stripe accenting throughout
A serious rear spoiler
Possible roof "vortex generator"
Center exit dual exhaust tips with a mystery third center pipe
20-inch piano black alloy wheels wrapped in 245-section tires
A wild hood scoop
Type R badging with the iconic red background Honda badges
The front bumper looks like it incorporates some side air inlet vents as well.

Now I know I've missed a bit, so hopefully we can all chime in on whatever else is there.
Try to answer my attempt at figuring out this paint colour or wrap even.
Anyone have an answer to that mystery center pipe?
What you would like to see make production or get cut off of for production.
Are the parts actually Carbon Fiber or just wrapped as well ?

We'll start with some glamour shots and then we can look at some raw photos from the show directly

Someone on another thread/forum said it's actually a vinyl wrap, not a paint job which explains the texture. I'd call it Smoked Stainless Steel as it reminds me of a darker version of the Deloreans that were stainless steel.

What we're seeing is supposed to look very similar to the production model. They'll probably round out a lot of the edges like the normal hatchback.

Just hope dealerships won't be price gouging like the others are doing with the Focus RS. May as well go with the Si if that's the case.

Alright so that settles that for me, thank you very much.

Hear anything on that middle pipe ??
Haven't heard anything official on the center pipe. It's been speculated on that it has to do with waste gate stuff... others like myself have ventured a guess that the CTR will have a selectable drive mode similar to the NSX which changes both the drive dynamics AND the sound level of the car. So in comfort/normal mode less exhaust sound would make the car quieter OR in R mode make the car much much louder.

Hm.. that would be quite interesting for it to have something to do with the turbo stuff. But for an extra sort of exhaust adder/sport mode feature, that could make sense as well. But I still think it's kind of odd. It's specifically differentiated which kinda sets me off. I guess we'll find out soon enough lol

Maybe the Type R has an electrically adjustable exhaust system that opens up the last small bypass valve in some kind of sport mode. I think they're usually found in the higher end models like the BMW M4.

The center pipe sure has generated a lot of buzz. Maybe that was the intention all along.
It's going to go from people wondering WTF was Honda thinking to how great of an idea it was. Designing a car is challenging and trying to deviate from what else is on the market and offer up something unique brings out a result like this.

It looks very aggressive. But that aggressive look actually goes hand in hand with what it's packing performance wise which is ideal. It's a complete package at this point... a sinnister complete package lol

The C7 Corvette also got a lot of negative feedback once it was shown in full and people got to see the exhaust system, now you hardly hear complaints about it. 6 months from now everyone will be saying something different.

Just for fun, i went on the Honda UK site to look at the current gen Type R to see what all was options and what was standard... assuming the 10th gen keeps a similar structure, things like the red interior trim and red steering wheel are all options that you don't have to get if you don't like them. That'll make some people happy. No doubt honda outfitted the prototype with all the potential optional equipment, so expect a ever so slightly toned down version to be the actual car, with items like the red interior bits and possibly some exterior bits to be optional.

That interior looks really nice. I absolutely love the seats but could do without the steering wheel. Nonetheless, thankfully they are all optional so I can pick and choose :)

I love how far the arm rest comes out though.

those look striking similar to the type r version. they both have the fast & furious wing, wide body kits...as already mentioned, the 3 exhausts...
Those are the Type R versions.. the front fenders alone give it away. The fast and furious wing definitely helps a good bit too though lol

I can't even see the exhaust tips in the picture at all.
