In the market for a new car and these 2 are on the top of my list. Currently in college and my daily commute is about 7 miles each way but next year it'll be 11-12 miles each way. Also my current job is delivering food but I have no idea how long I'll be staying there (at least for the full summer up to maybe September). The main issue that is preventing me from just committing to the Sport is only 6 more hp than the EX-T and how you are supposed to use premium gas for the Sport. Gas mileage isn't too far apart between the two and the Sport has the same mpg for city driving as my current car (2005 Corolla). I love the look of the Sport on the inside and outside but that premium gas thing is really making me thing of going for the EX-T. For a full tank of gas is it a noticeable increase or will it just be an extra dollar or two. Is this just some unreasonable "fear" and I should get the Sport or what? I havent test driven either yet but I'll definitely try to do it sometime in the next few days.

I recommend not even considering civic sedan. Get the civic hatchback ex (all hatchbacks have turbo). Ex has all the high end features you want in a car like push to start, touch screen infotainment system, etc. The only things ex-l has that ex doesn't is navigation (not even in base ex-l) and leather seat. Also ex doesn't have auto dimming fog lights, but you can pick that as dealer option when buying if you care about it, i did for my ex.

I feel like sport options are not worth it for this car when you lose out on so many features and barely gain performance. Also hatchback is a much much more practical car for mellenials like us. I also got the honda sensing package on mine but that is optional. The total cost came out to 25k but I paid only 22k thanks to getting a discount by putting my zip code into truecar.com

22k for a car with futuristic sensing capabilities, all the features you want, very practical luggage space, a rear windshield wiper (sedan don't have it lol), and is very fun to drive even if it doesn't say sport on it. I am 100% satisfied with my decision and would recommend it to everyone

Since you're in college make sure to take advantage of their college discount package. You get 500 off and guaranteed 1.9% apr of you finance

premium gas as i understand is recommended, not required.

so, you can use same fuel for either car.

features...you will be getting lot more features with the EX-t sedan vs. the sport hatchback. on the hatchback, you get added exterior features that everyone else will see. on the sedan, you'll get features that you get to see and enjoy.

trunk space (cubic ft) is overall larger in the hatch, but also shorter in length (with seats up) than the sedan. if you have golf clubs...i'd try to fit those into either model and see how they fit.

if you ever plan on any exterior accessory like a bike rack or small trailer, you can't mount a hitch with the sport model (center exhaust prohibits this at this time). for example, i have a hitch mounted bike rack - can't use with any civic model with center exhaust.

drive them both. then see if you can live without the features you will be giving up over the life of the car for 6hp that you may or may not ever notice. you can always add the exterior lips & spoilers if you like them that much.

your choice...you have to like it and live with it.

good luck!

If the engine is tuned for the extra 6hp on premium fuel using lower octane may cause it to detune and have the same power. What is the price of fuel where you are? Multiply that by 10-11 and that's about how much more it will cost you every time you fill up. If you don't do a lot of other driving outside your daily commute it won't be too big a deal. Only you can decide on that. Good luck with your decision.
