Honda’s 10th gen Civic Type R will finally roll onto American shores this year, but before then there’s still its predecessor and Honda is planning a proper send-off for the 9th Gen Civic with a limited Black Edition.

To celebrate the end of a generation, the last 100 examples to come off the line will be transformed into the Civic Type R Black Edition. With the limited amount produced, the special edition could become a sought after car years down the road.

Heading to U.K. dealerships only, the Black Edition will of course feature a black paint job with red accented wheels and front facia. Unique this model are red end plates on the rear wing and a smattering of red trim in the cabin.

According to Honda’s press release, no performance changes will be made to the Civic Type R Black Edition, it is still powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s cranking out 305 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Mated to 6-speed manual and coming in front-wheel drive, the outgoing Type R can propel itself from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds and hit a maximum speed of 167 mph.

Those of you in the U.K. who wants to get your hands on one better be quick as Honda is expecting to sell out quickly. Priced at £32,300 ($39,300), the Civic Type R Black Edition costs the same as the Civic Type R GT.

You kinda can't really go wrong with the Civic that's souped up by Honda's engineering team to be honest. Chances are that buyers are going to continue to modify the car when they purchase it too anyway. But seems like there isn't much new with this special edition, so it'll probably be worthwhile to look at the specs more closely before rushing in to buy it!
