I added this as an option on my Touring when I was building it. After requesting quotes from dealers, I had one tell me it does not come with the Touring since it already has an auto dimming mirror standard? Is this true? Why do they offer it as an accessory then? Is the only difference the one you can add on to the Touring has a built in compass?

A lot of companys list all options on line .. The touring has a built in compass you can select on the speedo.

I think it is a general accessory that is offered on them all, but if not needed if it comes as standard, no need to order it. I wish they (Honda) offered more of these features as factory installed options rather than dealer installed options because you really do not know who is tinkering with your car.


I didn't know that the Touring had the compass built into the instrument cluster display as an option to see. It is not listed on the Honda site or brochure I do not believe? Is it also on the EX?

I have a touring. not sure why you can add it as an option as mine came with it from the factory. Also the compass is built into the dash speedo area.

I wanted both, but the auto dimming mirror more so. It seems like both are standard on the touring model though, the compass is just in a different place and not in the mirror on the touring? Seems like a pointless upgrade if that's the case.

Definitely seems pointless if that's the only change it makes. I personally prefer the compass in the gauge typically.

Yeah, I am wondering why the Touring needs it on the mirror as well if it already has it in the cluster. I guess they want you to see it everywhere you look. lol.

Well I did a little research of my own on the Honda website and it is still unclear. On the "PDF" list of features, it indicates that EX trims and higher have the compass readout feature in the instrument cluster display, but on the non-PDF list, it shows it is only on the EX-L with navigation option and Touring, so I still do not know for sure, lol.
