Center console air vents loose

I have a 2016 EX-T and lately I have noticed that when my car has been parked outside in the heat for a few hours, part of the air vents that directs the air are facing up. When I move them back down to direct the air towards me, they slowly rise back to directing air upwards. They typically will remain stationary once the air coming out of the vents has had time to cool down a bit (maybe a minute or so). Has anyone else experienced this? I would expect that this isn't considered normal, right?

Yes.

By whom? Owners don't seem to. Honda may not be so sure.

This has been mentioned in several threads on the other Civic X forum. Not sure anybody has a definite or official fix. One owner had a D-I-Y hack.
Is it possible that they are pointed up during the first few minutes because that's where the warmest air is ?

They aren't actively controlled like in some Mazdas. My thought is that they just aren't well balanced and, when hot, whatever holds them in place expands so much--reducing the tension holding them in place--that they naturally tip toward the heavier side.

Gotcha.
Thank you all for the feedback, here is a video of left air-vent in the center console doing what I described. I wondered if it was something that it was programmed to do, point up automatically so that it wouldn't be blowing hot air directly at you when you turn the car on, but I haven't noticed that it happens every single time, so wasn't sure.

Can you take a photo of the before and after? I think I am experiencing the same thing. I noticed the vents were off but didn't think twice because I am the sole driver of the car and typically the only occupant.
I heard the 2016+ Civic has AI tech, so it might be trolling you.

That's the best answer I've seen so far ^^
Haha... I'll bring that up to the folks at the dealership when I take it in next!
This is the first time I'm seeing this. Wonder if some kind of spring was tightened to much to make them bounce back to that position.

They probably have to go in on the back end and turn off troll mode :D
**** troll mode... it'll get ya every time. lol
Mine does that too! Noticed about a month ago. Quite annoying. Lol
Wow, this has got to be the quirkiest issue I've ever read or seen. However, I've yet to experience this and I live in San Antonio, Texas where it's hotter as **** lately.

My wild guess is the plastic expanding and contracting from the heat but that doesn't explain why some have this happen to them and others (like mine) have not.
It happens when I have ac on FULL BLAST. Or in between. Never on low fan speeds

Yes it is usually when the AC is on a high fan speed, and once the air turns cool enough, it seems to tighten up. quite annoying. I have an appointment tomorrow for this and a number of other things so I will update afterwards.
Looking forward to hearing what a possible solution will be since that will make it much easier for others to get it resolved, not all dealers will know what to do right away, so what ever direction we can provide them will help them help us.
Sounds like the plastic is expanding and shrinking depending on the temperature and it moves because the flaps weren't fitted correctly. This is just a guess.
