Exciting news! The Honda Civic Type R Prototype has set a new FWD record at the Nurburgring. The record specifically is for the quickest front-wheel drive car to lap the Nurburgring.
A 310 horsepower Civic lapped the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 50.63 seconds. That beats out the previous record holder, the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R, which did the lap in 7 minutes 54 seconds.
Apparently the lap was actually done in May, but it is only being released now to coincide with the debut of the production Civic Type R in Geneva.
