The 2016 Civic Makes Consumer Reports go MMMMM

Regardless of your feelings toward Consumer Reports they are still one of the most trusted sources of information for the average buyer, a good review and a good ranking are prerequisite to successful sales.

They got their hands on a 2016 Civic Touring and considering in 2012 CR pulled their recommended buy label from the Civic a good first impression is imperative.

A good first impression Civic made indeed. Tom Mutchler saying Acura's "wished they looked this good", calls it premium, upscale, praising the wider track and bigger wheels.

Interior wise, he compliments the 10th Gen's visibility and technology, his main gripe being a lack of blind spot monitoring. His only negative being that headroom is a bit tight, although 6'2 will fit back there fine enough.

Mutchler didn't give a recommendation as of yet, waiting for the embargo to lift before publishing drive feedback and Honda's own fuel economy numbers. Pricing is expected to be competitive.

Stay tuned...

Is it just me or does this guy seem like the most condescending **** ever?

That aside, not really anything we haven't heard before already. But definitely some nice shots of the all black interior for the EXL. Gets better looking every time i see it. And those digital gauges make me drool. The sedan is such a good looking car, the coupe is really going to turn heads.

It's a good introductory video for their audience but being on this forum there's a lot more we can understand of the Civic here, plus that video from CR might be the first time people are hearing of it, then there's the demographic to consider.

Thats exactly it. Most people don't read car blogs and that demo relies on CR and edmunds. I find it slightly scary actually how many people actually farm their decisions out to subjective reviews (subjective being not YOUR opinion as the person spending the money)
Interior looks great, love that paint color. Can't wait for specs and driving impressions of the sport cvt with the small turbo.

First off, I think people go off the reviews to let them narrow down the selection of vehicles that they will go out and try themselves.

Second, I think that these reviewers are subjective, but give value in that they are very well informed and knowledgeable about the car industry generally. Having more knowledge of history, competitive vehicles, mechanics, etc... allows them to give more insightful critiques of vehicles than the average person can.
The lack of blind spot monitoring can be easily fixed by turning your head before changing lanes so that's not a big issue. Great to know that visibility is okay in the rear view mirror. When will the information embargo be lifted?

The 19th the embargo is lifted and we also find out full details and specs about the car from Honda on that day and since I have never driven a car with blind spot monitoring system I wouldn't know what that entails but I do own a 2013 accord and it has the blind spot camera and that is a game changer in my eyes I couldn't imagine driving a car without it
