Hello everyone I am a new Civic owner and enjoy the car. I have 2017 hatch ex-l navi. First I read on the forum about how Honda reconfig the radio to have a volume dial yet my car still has the "slide" type volume. Is it true they all have volume dials now? Second, and this is the real issue, my infotainment system is giving me trouble. While using Apple CarPlay the screen will suddenly say no device connected while my phone is still connected. I have tried several different cables and always the same thing. It happens at least once a day. No matter what I do it will not recognize the connection until I reboot the radio then it is ok for a while. also since the radio presets allow you to combine 2 stations to one button I have set that up. Problem is while station 1 on the preset is playing the volume will go low and the radio will switch to the second station on the same pre-set. Has anyone dealt with anything like this so far? I could use any insight you may have. thank you

no knobs on the civic radios.

i think i recall reading that you must use either an Apple cable or the honda cable for it to work properly. many were having issues using 3rd party cables. 'apple certified' doesn't matter....it has to be an Apple product/cable.

yet, another reason i don't like the fruit company, but i digress

I use the Apple Car Play in my 2017 Civic Hatch 10-15 times per week. I don't use an Apple branded cord and I've never had a single issue. My nephew has had issues with the head unit on his 2017 Sedan, most often when using Car Play, and those issues were chased down to a bad head unit; replacement solved his issue.

Yes, we've all heard anecdotal evidence here (and elsewhere) about non-Apple cords and functionality, but I don't know anyone personally who's ever had any issues with any Apple device and a non-OE cord. More often, the issue lies in dirt or contaminates being stuffed into the communication/charging port of your device (pocket lint?), or a cord that has a particularly worn end nearest the plug (common problem).

I personally would recommend trying a new cord, and one with a reinforced device end. I actually use an 18" flat cord which seems to be the ideal length to reach from the under dash port to my Nato Mount on the RH side of the display.

I will set up an appointment as it must be the unit. Has anyone had issues with the pre-set changing? Again I set pre-set number one to 2 different channels as shown in the manual. While station pre-set one is playing it will randomly change to station 2 that is set to that same station. Anyone else have this experience? Thanks everyone
