Ok, so I'm looking at my car during my break, and I see paw prints of sand going up my hood. And it's not a cat paw, it's a pretty big paw. Further inspection and I'm like, WTF?! Seeing my shark fin Sirius radio antenna and it's all crackled and damaged. I'm like , I KNOW this wasn't this way yesterday and I know Honda parts don't just turn into broken shards. Soooo, come to find out, I recalled a little terrier dog of a friends, was on their car and I over heard them saying how they had to spank him for messing up there cars. So now part of me wants murder the mutt,.. but it's not his fault, he's a puppy. But the owner, my friends, are responsible in some sense, ... MORAL of the story,... beware of puppy dogs, they can walk up a civic fast and the shark fin Sirius antenna is a tasty chew toy that cost at least 60 dollars to replace before figuring in installation tech time. .... I'm STILL pretty pissed about it. And nothing I can do since I have 1000 deductible. I can add pics tomorrow.

Maybe we could turn this into a place to discuss cleaning, care and protecting your ride. What do you guys do? Removing tree saps, bugs, fixing those little dings from gas pump hoses, preventing clear coat from showing rough buff streaks/swirls.

Alright what? How can anyone just let their dog walk on someones car? Or is the puppy just roaming free or what the ****?

Also what's up with those prices? If you're talking about the shark fin on top of the car at the back of the roof, the salesman I bought my Civic from, told me it'd be about 3000€ to replace if I managed to mess it up somehow..

No way the antenna costs around 3500 dollars to replace, it'll likely cost around 100 dollars.

Well I sure hope so.. then again I live in Finland so I wouldn't be surprised if the price actually is what the salesman told me.. the car I have cost around 33 000€.. I believe cars overall are a lot cheaper for you guys :p Also I think there's alot more components than just the antenna in the fin. Like GPS/Wifi receivers etc.

A quick look this morning shows that the antenna fin assembly is around USD $70 (Honda # 39150-TEA-A11Z(colour code digit)) and comes in colour. Not sure what all is included with that assembly besides the plastic fin and some whatnot inside. Couldn't find a diagram to go along with this, but I also didn't search that hard.

Yes, shouldn't be much. Even the cheapest cell phones have all those antennas and MORE inside them - in miniaturized form (read: more expensive) and are just a few bucks on the build sheet.

$70 for the whole assembly sounds about right to me.

Salespeople work on commission and unfortunately the career field itself attracts (and rewards!) impulsive liars - you simply can't trust a word they say. It's as hard to find an honest salesperson as it is an honest lawyer.

Yeah, good question and what is wrong with the price of antenna? Crazy story LOL. Actually when I was at the countryside visiting my friend's from DSRLeasing family, he had a huge mastiff, but a young one and pretty crazy one as opposed to others that are usually calm, but he climbed on my old Civic back then. Good that he was young and SKINNY as most of them 80kgs adult ones would make holes in my car haha.
