Hi! Just joined 6/24/2018 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring
I have previously viewed that the electronic tone generator module is located underneath the center rear bumper area, thanks to a member showing his video, that verifies that the doors are locked. I am 73, and the chirp?/tone is very difficult for my old (73) ears to hear, unless I am standing within about 5 feet of the bumper. My last vehicle, I could hear the horn from a huge distance away, as it was a very loud horn. Is it possible, or has anyone tried, to unplug the small module, & replace it with a horn, even like the slightly louder (Roadrunner?) Meep, Meep, standard front horn? I am thinking about replacing the front horn with the College Hills louder replacement, if I get brave enough to take off the front bumper as is required to do so. I could then use that horn, that already has a connector, if it would plug into where I would be removing the tone module. Any thoughts on this?

the lights usually flash as well when you lock the car. once for lock, and twice for unlock. is it worth all the trouble to do that, if you have a visual alert as well?

the chirp you hear was engineered to be just that, a chirp and not the old 'HONK' from the good 'ole days.

anything probably can be done...but, is it worth it? and in this case, i'd say no, its not worth the trouble.

Thanks for the reply! I do like the loud horn, as I have used it with my previous car for easy location in a very large parking lot, if I come out a different door. I know the general location then, but it helps to pinpoint it without using the alarm mode. I have seen the flashing lights, but still like to hear that reassuring horn.

I was in precisely the same situation recently. Yes, this isn't very easy. Doing it on your own, I don't think, is the best option. I personally turned to a locksmith from a company in my city - mylocallocksmithtx.com. They made my life a lot easier. They solved my problem very quickly and qualitatively. I recommend it with confidence. It is worth all this money, and you know that you will arrive with a good and qualitative result by the end. I think this is the only solution. I hope I have helped you.
