I am not a mechanic guy, but of course these are your bearing wheels.
I have a 2016 Civic Lx 4 door sedan, with 77,000 km (45,000 miles), and I have Honda's car since 1991, 27 years....I had an Accord 1989 manual transmission until 2001, 320,000 km, same clutch etc..... Since then, it is my fourth Civic : 2001, 2009, 2012, 2016. Last three are leased cars... I never had any problem with my civic, beside the fact that the driving was less than exciting, not even satisfying...BUT nothing broked prematurely..it was reliable...
With my new Civic 2016... this is another story. Everything was fine with of course all of the "minor" problems your read in that forum: back camera not working sometimes, USB key for music not working sometimes.. And a HUMMING sound since march 2018... Tire noise, road noise????
But since August 2018 : rear discs breaks completely finished 65,000 km (350$ Cdn), but front discs were good at 45-50% ??? .. I changed my 4 tires for winter tires mid october : my car displayed a message that basically all the parts of my car were "kaput"...My mechanic guy (independant garage) didn't know what was going on but fixed it in 45 minutes ??? BUT the humming sound is way louder...winter tires ??
NEXT: end of october 2018 my rear shocks absorbers start to make a loud "Clonk" when there was even a small obstacle on the road...Ok got to change the shock absorbers after 72,000 km.. First, the shocks are not available (not manufactured yet!!) anywhere else than at the Honda dealer??? Price estimate to change the 2 shocks, plus the top plate (Honda dealer suggestion!!) plus labor, plus taxes: 800$ Cdn. at my usual garage...imagine at Honda garage..
I found 2 shocks at rockauto.com for 88$ Cdn, including shipping (Fedex)...I found a garage with a good reputation in US of A, 65 km from Montréal..Shipping was made there and it cost me 235$ Cdn (Labor, parts taxes shipping etc..) and it was fixed last week at 76,000 km... and on the two shocks, especially on the left side the shaft was corroded and full of deep rusted pits..unusual according to two mechanics guys.
BUT the mechanic guy in USA made a 5 min road test, came back, and said that the HUMMMMing sound was for sure from the "Bearring" on the back wheels... I went back again in USA yesterday, the "Bearring and hubs" on the right back wheel was changed.. 260$ Cnd later, no more of that unbearable HUMMMM ...BUT the rear left bearring and hub will have to be changed in few weeks/months etc..at 77,000 km !!!??? Usually you will see that on a 100,000 miles car, according to the 2 mechanics... Warranty : 60,000 km/ 3 years...
What's next on that Civic ???? My next car ??? Honda ???? I'm fed up...this is unacceptable.. Going to court with a lawyer?? I will spend money again because Honda decided to put cheap part on their cars now.. Any suggestions??
