And it was very very bad. Went to a place that is very popular in town. Got a full service wash which was clean mats, tire cleaning, exterior wash, air dry, hand dry, and window cleaning. When I pulled up, there was a car ahead of me, I saw a man grab a broom from a water bin, go over all the tires then without re-dipping the brush into clean water he just want around the whole car! You just put all the brake dust and contaminates from the tires all over the car! So when it was my turn, i told them not to use the brush on the paint, tires - go for it. What did they do, when over the trunk and front with the brush.... ugh. After the car came out of the tunnel, they did their little hand dry and window cleaning. When I approached the car, it was all linty and streaky. When i got in, it was the same on the windows! Very very dissatisfied. Needless to say I'll just do it myself.

My question to the community is has anyone found success with the foam cannons that hook up to the hose? or should i just not bother and use a two bucket method with a mitt, soap and reg hose gun attachment? Additionally, what is your method that you've had success with?

I do a three step cleaner, conditioner, wax in the spring and fall. I do high pressure wash and wax (not to close) when needed, and a hand wash about three times a year when needed. I do nothing in the winter as in my climate it is hard on the paint and drives the salt and sand deeper into cracks and creases where rust starts.

Ive got a soap/water sprayer on my hose and soap the car up.I then lightly rinse the excess dirt off.I then use a microfiber mitt and soapy water method. My last Civic was CBP and this method works very well to minimize scratches.

I don't let anyone wash my cars. Don't be lazy OR cheap. Either do it yourself or if you're lazy pay the price for a reputable detailer. I also seen some crappy stuff at "the popular place in town". I've seen them use gas in a spray bottle to clean the hard to clean areas and remove bugs.

I find that with a good pressure washer (I have a 3700PSI Troy Bilt) that you don't need to use the two bucket system. Just make sure to do the rims and wheel wells last and if your rag/mit looks like it has some dirt/grit on it, rinse with a hose.

I used the 2 bucket method today, and used a mitt and microfibre cloths. Worked pretty well. However I can't deny shedding a few tears to already finding a few chips in my new SI, one small one so deep it's literally plastic. :( That's what I get for driving on the highway I guess.
