It’s the moment Civic fans have been waiting for, the first U.S. spec 2017 Civic Type R has finally made land and Honda has donated the first one to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation for auction.
Meaning the very first Civic Type R to be sold in America, the one with that collectible Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) 01, is up for grabs. They’ve even placed a small plaque with the serial number R-00001, just below the shift knob.
Starting June 7, those interested can visit Bring A Trailer to bid on this Aegean Blue Metallic painted Type R. Of course, the most powerful production Honda will come with the standard Type R features including a rear wing, center outlet exhaust, and that iconic red Honda badging. It sits on a set of twenty-inch alloy wheels shod in Continental ContiSportContact 6 maximum-performance summer tires and providing ample stopping power are Brembo 4-piston front calipers with ventilated, cross-drilled rotors.
Powering this beauty is a 2.0-liter turbo engine, producing a whopping 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission, the new Civic Type R managed to set a new Nürburgring for front wheel cars.
Whoever wins this Civic Type R can have it shipped to a participating USA Honda dealer for pickup.
Bidding will end on the 15th and all proceeds from this auction will go towards a good cause. With three days left, the current bid sits at an impressive $200,000.
