In my new 2017 Civic, I found this small piece of plastic inside my glove box.
This small clip-looking thing was placed inside a small zipper bag and taped on the inside wall of the glove box.
Anyone know what it is?

It looks like the pop-out filler piece that resides below the shifter on automatic/CVT equipped cars. You remove this to depress a lever to bypass the shifter lock. Do you have an unexplained opening below the shifter on your car?

Thank you, barenaked. It is indeed the shift lock cover. Don't know why it has been removed by the dealer.
Easy to pop it right back, now there is no hole on the center console.

I have this too, but its a manual. Does that apply?

I believe that the lower console body is the same for all models, so probably.

I thought it was the bump stop for the flux capacitor flange, but I guess the previous explanation make sense too.
