Grey interior in Modern Steel Civic

6373 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Florida_Frank
Hello all!

I recently purchased the Modern Steel Civic with Grey interior. I endlessly researched on what type of cloth material the seats are, but have not found an answer. I am worried that my seats will easily get dirty. Any suggestions on how to keep them clean?

Thanks!

Welcome!

I have the same color combo as you and have also thought about this. AFAIK the airbags in seat preclude putting seat covers on. I researched fabric protectors and it seems 303 Fabric Guard gets excellent reviews but I couldn't find it anywhere on the shelf. I ended up ordering a 16 oz bottle from Home Depot and had it delivered to local store to save shipping. The instructions say best applied above 70F and I'm in SW PA so I'm going to wait until spring. My Civic is going to mostly stay in the garage the duration of this winter while I drive my truck on the crappy roads. http://www.goldeagle.com/product/30...s3zgIJdmPVBXQDDWK-IK4aAg4E8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

Old school seat cushions like these? Extra back support and protects your seats but pretty ugly. :p

If OP is already fine with how the seats feel then a setup like that can make the experience worse.
It's my old school suggestion since I have no idea how Fabric Guard will react to the constant rubbing from pants when you get in and out of seats.
The other thing to look into is not getting pants with color that will run. Or finding some way to prevent its color from running. I rather do that with an $80 pair of jeans than a brand new $300+ seat.
I've been looking into car seat covers & some are known to "bleed" onto the seats.

I am also making sure myself and my passengers do NOT wear any type of dark jeans. I feel OCD, but can't help it!

Thanks all for your suggestions!

That's the same color combo that I bought. I had a 2000 Accord EX-L that I drove for almost 15 years. It had grey leather seats and they never got dirty looking. I used Leather Wipes on them occasionally. I hope my new Civic does as well.

x2, leather wipes are awesome. I specifically used leather wipes by Meguairs. The effect its conditioner had (and the great smell) left my seats and interior looking and smelling great.

But really, just about any leather wipe from any major brand will do.

Which brand(s) did you go with?

Lately we use Weiman.
