This must be a first, 2017 hatches landed in Canadian dealers before the U.S., unheard of. Salesman called yesterday but I had to work late so I will be test driving after work today.

Let us know how the hatchback test drive goes! Like interior space, cargo, rear passenger headroom etc.
So I went to the dealership after work, they had two LX's one 6 speed and one CVT, I took out the 6 Speed. I will start with looks from the outside. Front end looks so much better with no chrome although the LX does have chrome over the side windows (sport will be black), from the side the car does not look stubby like in the pictures and the back looks way better than the pictures and better than my sedan I think its due to the two spoilers, my sedan looks narrow and tall where as the hatch looks lower and wider. When sitting the drivers seat you cant tell the difference between the sedan and hatch until you look in the rear-view mirror, funky shaped rear window and spoiler blocking half the view(first negative). The back seat is suppose to have more head and hip, same shoulder and an inch and a half less legroom(from sedan), everything looks the same except the legroom looks like 3'' less, less than coup from what I remember. Other stuff of note in the back is that the speakers are in the doors with separate tweeters up high like the front. That hump in the middle seat is gone, it's level with the outside seats. Now to the fun stuff, my car is the 2.0 6speed LX sedan, So if you use econ in my car it does absolutely nothing except retard the AC. Very different story in the hatch, when driving with econ on hard to tell the two cars apart, if anything I would give a very slight edge in acceleration to the 2.0, But..... turn the econ off and acceleration is slightly better in the 1.5 until the turbo kicks in and watch your RPM's hit the redline in half the time. The other big thing I noted when driving was the handling of the car, it felt like it had low profiles with 18's, it cornered way better and was more confident than my crappy 16's and hanook's. Guess what it had the exact same tires???? Is the suspension upgraded? could this 52% stiffer body give it that feel? What ever it is I want it and I'm in negotiations to trade my 3 week old ho-hum in on a sport.

Wow, the drive dynamics must be a whole lot better than the sedan if you're willing to trade one for the other. One of my worries with the hatchback was that it'd be on the stubby looking side thanks to taller rear roof-line but i'm glad to know that's not the case.
The 52% stiffer body could definitely be it. Body rigidity and stiffness has a lot to do with the cornering and what not. Glad to hear that 1.5T has that top-end in there, or at least enough top end to make you feel like it's really going somewhere. Wasn't too stoked about a hatch until now really. Time to go check the dealership !
Found this; 25.5/16.0 stabilizer bars(front/back) on hatch's. 25.0/16.5 on my LX sedan. Wheel offset on sedan -55, -45 on LX hatch. Add in the 52% stiffer body and you have much better ride dynamics.
Local dealership got two hatches in late last week. One EX=L Navi in black, one EX in blue, both CVTs. The black one had an MSRP of $25,300 plus shipping, a meazly $545 more than Black Betty sticker-ed for. Dealer said he has more coming. I parked the "03 Mazda P5 next to them for comparison in size. Definitely the Civics are a bunch larger, but they look amazing. Beginning to think we will be in the market for a Fit EX-L Navi when the time comes to get a new ride, especially now that they will no longer be built in Mexico.

did you by any chance ask if you can test drive it?
what we need now more than anything is some say in how the driveability of the hatch compares to the sedan, at least in my opinion.

Didn't have to ask. A solo drive was offered by the salesman I've been doing business with for the last 20 years. I declined as I was in the middle of running errands (probably should have run them with the hatch), but I'm not in the market for a new car until at least 2018, so I didn't want to put miles on the only two they had. Would have loved to though.
Dealer near me in NJ said I can come in to test drive the hatch too. Got wife to hold off on getting her coupe till we can drive the hatch too. I think she is leaning towards the practicality of the hatch, which is fine by me!
As nice as the coupe is, the Civic hatchback just seems more practical if that's what you're into. Loads more cargo space and a larger trunk opening to fit everything in. I'm still on the fence because all three looks so good.
You must test drive the hatch, the handling dynamics are way better !

Nice! That's the sort of relationship that helps big time. Going to be harder for the average person here to do that but hopefully you're not the only one. Did you do enough of up hill and down hill driving to really get a sense of how it will react?
@Cabeldude are you going with the hatchback?
Yes! but I'm getting the sport, and they have no idea when they can get it. The sport trim in Canada offers a lot more than the U.S. version but at a larger price jump $4000 vs $1300. The sales manager asked if I was willing to turn my car in and drive a loaner until the sport showed up, he said I would only loose freight and pdi ($1400). I said yes. He has a lot of buyers looking for manuals and the my2016 are sold out and the my2017 aren't here yet.
Ok I bought one yesterday

Hey , so I went to my Honda dealer tuesday to look at the HRV . I had wanted one for several months. When I walked into the showroom I saw this gorgeous blue car. I went over to look at it. For get the HRV. Anyway it took me until wednesday to test drive it . After the test drive it was mine. I got the 2017 civic hatchback exl cvt navi. I have to have sat. radio, and I wanted all the bells and whistles. I have had it for a day now. I had a 2008 Rogue. Way different. I am 61 , I feel like I got a roaring sports car. I love it. So fun to drive. The blue is bright. Will never lose this car in parking lot. Go buy one.:):)

Bought a 2017 hatchback cvt exl navi yesterday in agean blue. Drives like a sports car or at least to me it does. Great looking car, love the hatchback , and all the things on it. I had a 2008 rogue , so this puts me in a different category all together. I test drove it and it had to be mine. Love it.

It does drive like a sports car, so different from the sedan and coup.
