If i'm not mistaken, the current civic and the 8th gen had radio based GPS systems that, in the event of being stolen, you call honda and they can kill the engine in the car. Doesn't really promise you'll see the car again, but whoever stole it is royally screwed when the engine just cuts off and won't come back on.I think they are they most stolen vehicles because of the large amount of units available but that's what insurance is for. It stinks but there's not much you can do once it's been stolen unless your car has a GPS tracker that the police can use.

That's something i was thinking, does the article actually specify that NEW civics and accords were the most stolen cars? Or are they just generalizing to every single car on the road regardless of year... i'm sure honda's now are alot harder to break into, hardwire and steal than their 90s predecessors were...most stolen vehicles are old vehicles!

Oh totally a factor as well... anecdotally the delivery driver that showed up at my house last night with dinner was driving a early 90 accord sedan with mismatched body panels, the wheels matched though. And like someone else mentioned... you have to take into account the amount of these cars on the road (especially older ones because they're so reliable! ;D) and then take into account the types of areas people own and drive older hondas and it makes sense they'd probably get stolen alot.

nah its not car culture...it's just OaklandCalifornia and Washington. I wonder why? California makes sense because its a huge car culture so I imagine chop shops are common as well.
