Red Bull Global Rallycross started back in 2009 and every year since then, heavily modified production cars of all shapes and sizes have been competing over stretches asphalt and sometimes even dirt. This year, a trio of Honda Civic Coupes will be competing and the automaker has just unveiled the Rallycross Supercars’ liveries sporting the colors of sponsor Red Bull.
Each of the three turbocharged 600 horsepower rallycross Civic coupes are painted in the iconic Red Bull colors with matte finish and anodized red, but what differentiates them from each other are not number, but slight variations in design.
For example, Californian driver Mitchell deJong's Civic coupe pays homage to his country of origin with stars and stripes. 18-year-old Swedish rookie Oliver Eriksson’s coupe has an abundance of attacking stripes strategically embedded into the design without overwhelming the other elements. Also Swedish is Sebastian Eriksson who will be racing in a Civic with a color scheme that’s reminiscent of the Olsbergs MSE team's color scheme.
"These liveries are lit," said Oliver. "We are the biggest team in Red Bull GRC and we represent the best sponsors in the sport and now, I think, we have the best liveries as well."
We’ll have to see how much these new liveries motivates each driver in Memphis, where the season is set to kick off this weekend.
