Honda kicked off the Global Rallycross season with a promotional video introducing their team of drivers and their new Civic rallycross car.

Packing more than 600 horsepower in its 2.0 Liter turbocharged engine and with the ability to go from 0-60 in 1.9 seconds, it’s no surprised that the Honda Team was able to make the Civic lift off from the track when going over hills and bumps. An amazing feat that shouldn’t be tried with your own civic Coupe.

This year’s first race took place last weekend at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Phoenix, Arizona. Behind the steering wheel of Honda’s Civic Red Bull Global Rallycross race car are drivers Sebastian Eriksson and Joni Wiman. Wiman won the 2014 Global Rallycross Championship and Eriksson took home second-place finish last year.

In round one on Saturday, Wiman’s final score put him in 6th place with Eriksson in 9th place but they made a comeback in round two. Eriksson managed to bag third place and captured Honda's first podium in Red Bull GRC. Unfortunately, Wiman came last in the second race when his Civic suffered mechanical damage in the third lap which forced him out of the race.

Next race is set to take place in Dallas, Texas next month.

Crazy to see they finally have something out there in a professional racing league. I just hope they bring this out to events like Auto Shows and anything else major along those lines since they probably have a few of these as back up cars, maybe even one as a dummy car for show purposes.

I keep going back and watching that first jump and holy crap I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to hit 4-5 feet. Generally not really into rally-cross racing but it is interesting to watch clips like these to see what the cars are capable of.
