Honda has announced that they will be offering the Civic Type-R to folks that live down under. Honda Australia director Stephen Collins confirmed to CarAdvice that the Civic Type-R will be available in the country, though specific timing wasn't divulged.
Australia is quite the market for these hot hatches. 25% of Golds sold there are either the GTI or the R, and Australia is also the second largest market for Renaultsport cars after France. So the Civic Type-R will have to compete with the likes of the new Megane RS 275 Trophy and the Golf R.“We are trying to confirm timing and therefore have not officially announced as yet,” Collins told us today. “It’s a matter of when not if — it will return to Australia for sure. [We] Should be able to confirm timing in the next few months."
Australians should be able to pick up their new Honda Civic Type-R around the start of the summer (I am assuming that means the Australian start of the winter, summer for us in the north).
