From Honda canada, www.honda.ca :

The new Civic marks the first time that development of both the sedan and coupe models is being led by a North American R&D team, with design led by a team from Honda’s Los Angeles design studio and development centered in the company’s Raymond, Ohio vehicle development centre The North American version of the Civic Sedan will be produced in Alliston, Ontario and Greensburg, Indiana. The Civic Coupe and Si models will also be manufactured in Alliston. It also marks a milestone and for the first time HCM serves as the global lead plant for the Civic Sedan and Coupe production. The VTEC Turbo engine will be produced in Alliston Ontario as well as Anna, Ohio. The CVT will be produced in Russells Point, Ohio. Together, these four Honda plants have invested in new equipment, processes and training to prepare for new Civic production, which will use domestic and globally sourced parts. Production of the five-door hatchback will take place at the company’s Swindon, UK plant.

So the new civics will be built in Canada. Would that translate to a shorter waiting period for Canadians?
SOME of the new civics will be built in canada. Some will still be built in ohio, some in canada. Release dates for US and Canada should be really close, a few weeks if that. Guess it depends where honda thinks the first batch of cars should go to.... where ever they're going to sell fastest i'd assume.

Canada is usually behind on things like that, so I am not surprised. I'm sure it won't be very far behind in Canada. Hopefully the price will be kept down in Canada because of domestic production. Or does NAFTA preclude that?

I think in Oakville Ontario they have a plant that produced the Civic and and some other vehicles, one of the biggest plants, which make me happy since it seems build quality over there is good.

I'm wondering what kind of production split we're going to see. Trim X,Y or Z from Canada, Coupes all from Canada, all Si's from CAnada... hmm otherwise how do they decide which facility supplies which cars...

In the past, coupes were all built in canada.. both accord and civic coupes were built there. Sedans were all built in the US plants. Si's not sure. Probably where ever the respective body style was being built. It seems like they're splitting it up more this time around with coupes being built in canada along with sedans, sedans in the US, hatches in the UK.

Received an e-mail today from my friendly, local Honda salesman that the announcement would be streamed live on youtube at 6:15 PDT on 09/16/15. Here's the links he gave me. Don't know how much information will be in the event with Night Riots doing the music, but it may be worth watching. Wonder if the web site with build your own will be up then. The second link is also a live stream of the announcement. I'll be watching the second one.

The comments in that article are an interesting read. Makes me wonder how well the Prius will sell when it's now known for being ugly.
I find that it's new look will take some getting used to, plus when factoring in the pros about it, design might be something some are willing to live with and see the potential in getting used to in the future.

I think the Prius is one of those cars that no matter how butt ugly it ends up being people will forgive it because it does what it does so well at an affordable price under a reliable name.

It's like the Impreza WRX and STi, no matter how ugly they ever were (i like the current design actually even if it didn't live up to the concepts hype) that it does what it does to such an extent that people will overlook visual shortcomings.

It's like when you meet someone on a date that physically isn't your type necessarily, but their personality is so spot on and intriguing that the visual flaws mostly fade away.
