How many Civic model types will the next generation have?

Do you think that the next-generation Civic will have multiple body types? A wagon, a hatchback, a sedan? I think that a wagon could be really cool. Check out this render.

I bet the wagon doesn't hit North American soil. The Civic had a wagon but then Honda discontinued it for about 20 years and brought it back but rebadged as the Fit.
i want a hatchback or wagon style. as i've grown older, the usefulness of those are far superior to sedan's and coupes.

toyota had a pretty good run with the matrix. everyone knows about the subie's hatchback/wagon models. hyundai is in the mix now with the elantra hatch.

i like the european tourer model - alot. and if they paint in the orange fire pearl...i'll be one of the first ones in line to get
I also like the Tourer. not quite a sedan, not quite a wagon. I think that it strikes a great balance. They have managed to keep the styling at a good level while also making it more practical than before.

What is really the difference between a tourer and a wagon though? Seems like semantics to me.
A hatch would be great to see as for a very long time we haven't had a civic hatch in the american market and last i recall they did well.
Wikipedia gives no sales numbers for the Civic wagons of the late-1980s.
How about an all electric civic like the accord plug in???

That is something i'd like to see them do for the upcoming generation.
If they can price it around the $30k mark it should be an EV that does well enough for them
I think that the tourer looks better with the spoiler come off the back like in the first render I posted.

But with a CNG and Hybrid would Honda really add a third EV option?
It would seem like overkill to do a hybrid and a natural gas and an ev. They would all be hunting for the same customers really so I don't think it would make much financial sense for them.
I don't think so there could be a very big market out there for the EV and out sale the natural gas which the sales is really low around 2k +/-...
EV's are fashion sales, at least go functional and practical. Build a PHEV!!!
I'm sure that Honda will build some interesting variants of the Civic, I just don't think they are going to build all of the above. It seems to me that wouldn't make financial sense. Some of the models would appeal to the same people so they may as well just make fewer models if they are still capable of catching the same customers that they would have with more variants.
One thing for sure is we'll need a sedan, the rest... aren't as important as there are vehicles from Honda that can sort of fill that need.
I would assume that they do a wagon, and I also assume that that wagon probably doesn't end up being released in NA.

Correct.

I will be surprised if they do it, but like you and others here I just don't see it happening at all. In Honda's defense it could take away from sales of their HRV.
If it wasn't for the HRV, there would be space for a Wagon.
But isn't the HRV more of a crossover than a wagon? At this point I'm not even sure if that is much of a real difference but they at least look slightly different in terms of the type of vehicle they are, even if they are equally capable.
