So, you're paying $10,000 to drive the car 3 years and 36K miles. If you bought the car for $22,900 and then sold it 3 years later with 36K miles, you'd probably get about $11,500 (based on current KBB trade in value on a '14) so you're probably way ahead on the lease option, since buying would cost you $11,400 (plus sales tax when you buy it)

I went to a second Honda dealer today. When I finally nailed him down on a 3/36 lease, he said "Absolutely no money down, no up front money, nothing at all. You make your first of 35 payments a month later." He quoted about 280 a month, which when you run the numbers is $50 difference from the other H dealer. Providing dealer #1 also has nothing other than the $1000 straight up front.

I really like the way these cars drive. It's probably similar to how the Chrysler Turbine Car of the '50s drove. It had no transmission, just a turbine engine.

I'm glad the Forte5 SX have been so hard to find. If I'd found the right deal I'd have done it. And it would've been fine, but I think this Civic is a step or two ahead.

the other issue at hand is how many miles do you drive? i could never lease a vehicle. i would use up all the mileage in the first 12 months.

if you don't plan on using it much...then, i guess it's ok. but, paying $250+ a month to be limited in use...is high for my tastes.

fwiw - my payment on my '14 EX is less than $200 month...and i can drive it as much as i want to - modify it however i want. if i add personal property tax and insurance....i'm right around $250/month. (now, i had to go to 4 different dealers and negotiate hard with them to get the deal that i felt comfortable with).

it sounds like you are comfortable with the $250 lease....and if so, that is all that matters at the end of the day. we all have different wants, needs and budgets.

I was asking for opinions about the lease costs from people who are familiar with or knowledgeable about lease rates for these cars.

A 3/36 is well within my use window. I don't drive 36,000 miles per year. If I did, I wouldn't be looking at a lease.

I've done leases, I've done purchases.

I don't mod my cars.

A lease looks like it'll work better at this point for numerous reasons.

I'm just asking opinions from people with some knowledge of the lease world.
Thanks for your input.
