Hvac controls ? if upgrading head unit

If i want to upgrade the head unit to something aftermarket, will i still be able to access the controls for the hvac fan which seems to be done through the factory display? I really dont like how it has to go through there. Doesnt seem as though we would be able to upgrade to anything aftermarket without losing that as well as the other features. Does anyone know of an aftermarket option that will support this?

Hmm, really have no idea since nobody has updated theirs with an aftermarket one yet. I assume the aftermarket powers that be has taken this into account and would try to integrate the hvac fan into their display.
That's a really tough one though. I'm there are many other vehicles out now a days with HVAC integrated into their head units. Now their wiring will vary from each manufacturer meaning that if an aftermarket company comes out with a head unit that supports HVAC it would have to be manufacturer specific wouldn't it ? At that point it doesn't really seem worth it
This is gonna be really interesting to see... I was just gonna go the line-converter route. Simple and easy. But then again, that's just for subwoofer/amp install. If you want a new head unit with different functions, may be out of luck for a while
And....that's why I will be ordering the touring. High end sound system, and everything you could want right in the factory display. Thankfully most new car sound systems are so much better than the crap OEM audio of yesteryear. Used to be you HAD to buy an aftermarket head unit/speakers if you wanted decent sound in your car.

So true. I used order my cars with the basic radio because I knew I would be ripping it out.
Still remember tearing out my OEM Ford am/fm radio (or maybe it was AM only) and replacing it with a Kenwood cassette deck and an external amp/equalizer. Thought I was da bomb!

When we installed our AC system in the house, everything was working perfectly. Once, my husband decided that fans are blowing to slow and he decided to upgrade them alone. I had no idea what he did to them, maybe he read something on the internet, but they were blowing faster. On the second day, they were out of function. So I suggest everybody to call a specialist instead of doing something by yourself, except in case you finished HVACR Certified Technician Programs, in other cases, don't even try.
