Is the Antenna adapter necessary when swapping head units?

I’m switching out my head unit on my 2017 Honda Civic lx this weekend, don’t have an antenna adapter, but at the same time I don’t use the AM/FM radio. Do I still need the antenna adapter? I called Honda and a dealership near me and neither seem to know definitively, but they believe it shouldn’t be necessary should I choose not to use the AM/FM radio. Any help is greatly appreciated
