Hi guys just got a 2016 civic EX with the lane camera. This is the second Honda I have owned. my commuter car car finally died ( 1990 Honda CRX 290,000 miles). Actually this is my very first NEW car and I am old.

Welcome to the forum! I assume you'll be driving the 2016 civic EX until it finally dies like your 1990 Honda? Did you get extended warranty if you plan to keep it for a long while?
Sorry to hear about your CRX, those things are awesome and a dying breed on the streets. Just seen a tour of the Honda Museum in Ohio, they have a CRX, or two of them, I'd go there just for the CRX, but of course there are many other things worth while to see.

It just sucks the CRZ wasn't that great of a successor otherwise I would have gotten myself one. Did you at any point look into the CRZ?
No I didn't get the extended warranty. I wrench for a living all be it on airplanes but an engine is an engine. The CRX was a great little car I was still getting almost 40 mpg. It didn't look good after 26 yrs. but it really didn't ever let me down, only twice. Honda really builds a bullet proof engine.
Think the new civic engines are going to be just at bulletproof? I wouldn't mind spending 20 or so years in the new Civics.

Compared to what else you can get on the market, you're probably best off with Honda, but of course how you take care of your car is another determining factor into how it will hold up. A lot of people neglect their cars and 4-5 years down the road it starts burning oil, and having all these weird problems.
Regular oil changes and general upkeep maintenance is the key. just taking a little pride in your ride will go along way.
