Anyone else find that your car does a crappy job at staying in its lane. If the highway turns my car trys to turn but cant keep up and ends up going out of the lane and i get the steering required and lane departure message.

Yea, lane keep assist is really only meant as a safety feature when someone is driving while sleepy or fatigued so that if they start to wander the car can correct you. It's not at all meant to replace human steering input during normal driving.

Its not supposed to be used for self driving but that is basically what people are going to use it for. It gives up at turns. You need to pay attention to the lines next to the icon of the car. When they are not illuminated you need to take over. Expect it to give up when the lines go away or at sharp turns.

See... this is an everlasting, re-occurring conversation that will never end, and probably get worse as these features continue on and advance. Even if it were fully self-driving, you need to pay attention and be aware that you may need to put an input it. That being said, this isn't even fully autonomous. This is a lane keeping assist. Assist is an act of helping, not doing.

Dealerships needs to emphasize the fact that the lane keep assist is not foolproof and could send the car into a wall if the driver is not careful. I probably wouldn't get it in any of my cars until years later, when I'm old and the assistance is needed.

It really should work as advertised though. My LKAS sometimes shows solid lines (when the lane lines are well marked) but allows the car to wander from the lane anyway, all while still showing solid lines on the dash. So the system thinks it's locked on the lanes but allows the car to wander over the lane lines. That's just quirky and should be fixed. I didn't pay for that level of non-performance.

Saying that it's just meant as an "assist" shouldn't absolve Honda from criticism. Your rear and side view mirrors are also assistive devices. If they constantly rattled out of adjustment, I wouldn't tell people that it's ok because they re just there to assist.

Maybe record the car drifting off the line and bring it to your dealership's attention? The dealership could help you lodge a complaint with Honda or at the very least people will become aware of the problem on youtube.

Are you sure you have lane keep assist on and not just road departure mitigation? Maybe its not calibrated right because mine keeps the car dead center when it can see the lines in the road.

That or just suggest they keep it for a few days and periodically test it if the first test drive doesn't show up anything but its also dependent on how good a tech is at picking up on issues, some pick it up right away and others actually need the customer to point out exactly when certain things happen.
