Hi all! Just joined here and wanted to make a quick intro... I'm a huge Honda nut job / fan boy / whatever you want to call it and have had my eye on the new Civic Type-R that we're FINALLY getting here in the states. Figured I would go ahead and sign up on here before we get it so I can be one of the cool people who registered early :D . I currently daily drive an '11 Si Sedan (had to have the last 8K reving Honda sold) and have an '08 S2000 CR for the weekends. My hope is to keep the Si for the long haul and add the CTR in the garage with the CR and have a fun collection of Hondas to enjoy.

I was at Mid Ohio this past weekend for the Indy 200 and Honda brought a German spec CTR to the event. Needless to say I couldn't stop looking at it... I had a chance to sit inside of it, look at everything inside and out, and my friend and I even found the person with the key fob who let us start it up and rev it a bit. We did take a short vid with my friend's phone, excuse the poor quality, he's working on uploading the HD version, but it's better than nothing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16Qm2msgLDg. I took a few shots of it as well that I'll post below. Take care!

And here are my 2 current cars (not pictured, '14 Yamaha FZ-09 for the 2 wheeled folks here).

Thanks!

Actually I'll be going with Championship White... IMO that's the proper color for a Type-R. The fact that I own 2 blue cars is really just a coincidence, prior to them I'd never owned a blue car before. The CR and Si both were the right car (availability/mileage/price) at the right time... I was originally looking at a Taffetta White Si for my daily but I got too good of a deal on my Dyno Blue Si to pass it up.

welcome to the boards!!

THats interesting they brought the CTR out... I was under the impression we're not getting the R until the 10th gen gets an R... I'm not sure if this is them indicating that the 9th CTR is coming...
Great photos. The Type R does look like so much fun, can't wait till it actually makes it to North America. Any idea when it'll be arriving on our shores?

Welcome to the forum!
Since we are getting the 10th gen type R, and not the current 9th gen, we should see it here at the earliest as a 2017 model at the very end of 2016 or at the latest as a 2018 model at the end of 2017 since the Euro hatch just did a refresh honda could run it for another year or 2 years. When they're ready for a new model that's when we'll get the hatch version civic here, including the Type R.
And it won't even be the one we've been seeing around lately. That kinda excites me since this generation's was so nice, and I just assume the next will also impressive.
We spoke to the guy who had the key fob for about 30-45 min. Very cool/nice guy. Works at Honda as the Project Lead for their 2.0-2.4L 4cyl engines... which includes the K20C1 found in the CTR. He's been driving it since January. We aren't getting this one as mentioned above, but we will have a Type-R in the 10th gen platform. We were told the same as what Robb said on the timeline... probably a 2018 in late 2017. He let us start it up, toggle R+ mode (pretty cool), rev it up, and generally let us do everything short of driving it. Very possible that's the only time I'll see and play around with that model CTR. Very nice surprise to say the least!

Oh and I'm trying to get a picture from my friend who took it, but the car wasn't serial numbered, the plaque in front of the shifter was all 0's.
