Hey everyone. I am looking to get a new vehicle and have narrowed it down to the Honda civic and the Honda accord. I have looked around at a lot of different cars and the Honda seems to be the only one that has a rugged reliable reputation. I have some things to consider while making my vehicle choices. First is safety. I am having a child and I want something that is safe for my family. Second is gas mileage. I travel back and fourth to work about an hour each way so great gas mileage is a must. I currently drive a kia soul or my wifes Kia Sorrento in the weather because of the AWD. Price is also a factor. Both seem to be in my price range but the cheaper low end models are going to suit my budget better.

My question is based on my criteria which car would be better?

Welcome to the forum!

Here are the IIHS safety ratings you can take a look at.
Civic: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/honda/civic-4-door-sedan
Accord: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/honda/accord-4-door-sedan

Both scored very well in the tests so it may be down to which look you prefer and the mpg.
Honda almost always gets the best safety rating for its vehicles and when you're going for products like the Accord and Civic that have been around for as long as they have and in the most competitive segments, you can bet safety will be the best or very close to it.
