Remote start question.

Did a search, no luck. Looked in both manuals. When I remote start it all is fine but when I get in the car soon as I try to shift into gear the car shuts off and I need to restart it. Is there something I am missing that will allow me to get in the remotly started car and drive off without restarting?

Did you push the push start button first ?
While it was still running?
While it was still running?
Yes, when you get in you have to push the start button to turn on all the electronics (remote start only starts the engine/HVAC) do NOT depress the brake like when you start the car, you're essentially just turning on the electronics and putting the already running car into the "on" position. Just hit the button, gauges and electronics will tick on and you'll be good to go!

The screen in front of you tells you just that. It's a security feature.

Also it will only run for 10 minutes and the HVAC will be set to 72 degrees automatically.

Your salesperson was not very good at telling you about your new car... :surprise:

It's nice of you to stand up for him/her.

I have been doing this for 14 years + and I can count on one hand the customers that have stood up for the salesperson. :)

I used to have a bad habit of hitting the brake pedal everytime I got in before as well, but you get used to it after a while lol

Couldn't find it explicitly in the Guide.

The Manual, p 402, says:

When the engine was started using the button* on the smart entry remote

1. Depress the brake pedal and press the ENGINE START/STOP button
simultaneously.

When the engine was started using the button*

The engine stops when the shift lever is moved out of
(P before the ENGINE START/STOP button is
pressed. Follow step 1 when starting to drive.
The car is designed to turn its self off if anything is done. You "authenticate" that its you by pressing the start button once you're in the car, yes, while it is running. Think of it this way, you started the car remotely. Anyone can climb into the car and drive off if this fail safe weren't in place. Instead the requirement is, you remotely start the car. You climb into the car and in your pocket you have the keyfob which tells the car its you. Then you press the start button (yes while car is running) to tell the car you're now ready to leave and it is actually you, its owner.

When I press the brake and push the start button after the car is remote started the windshield wiper cycles one pass. Is this normal? I really don't want it to wipe on a dry windshield.
Is it a Touring? Are the wipers in Auto? Is there any settled dust/dew on the windshield?
Turn the wiper switch back to normal. If it is on rain-sensing it does the wipe on start-up.
Don't ask why, that's just the way it is.
