Just the other day I noticed that on both transmitters, that the "hatch" unlock button isn't unlocking the hatch. I press and hold to unlock the hatch and nothing happens. Has anyone else see this issue? BTW all other buttons work as designed.

That button doesn't actually do anything on the hatch as the hatch is meant to unlock with the doors. The same fob is used for all models across the line which is why we have a button that performs no function.

The prevailing philosophy is "Why have a button which releases only the hatch when an open hatch on a hatchback is also open access to the passenger compartment?" This is why the doors also unlock when accessing the hatch using the auto-unlock thingy (I forget the Honda term for the proximity unlocking). It really makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

Unlocking is one thing, having the hatch automatically open like the trunk does is another. I know the hatch is much heaver, but really the convenience of hands free opening should be a no brainer for Honda.

Yeah, that would have been a nice feature but they didn't do it. No powered lifting arms back there, just a pair of gas-charged struts to hold the thing up.

It isn't that heavy, though, as my 10-year-old daughter doesn't seem to have any issue opening or closing the hatch, but that feature that Ford has where you wiggle your foot under the bumper would have been nice.

It didn't even need to power open fully, just pop up a few inches so that you could get a finger or an elbow in there when your hands are full.
It doesn't have to pop up a few inches. That's what your wrists are for and furthermore the latch is easy to activate with extreme minimal force. Now as far as closing the hatch, the handles you grab only takes the hatch down a few inches from closing and it is these 2 inches that are the real issue; closing the hatch without touching painted metal surfaces simply cannot be done.

Yes. I too would find this feature helpful and familiar.
I had an accord coupe where the trunk would pop up when the icon was pressed on the remote fob.

I wonder if this mod can be done on our hatchbacks ?...

That'd be cool if it works.
I did see the 8th gen lx remote fob trunk release diy on this forum when searching.
That model has an existing interior cable release and to that a solenoid is added from a hot relay.

This hatch model has no cable release...a tiny solenoid button unlocks the hatch when the fob is in proximity, same for the gas filler cover.

It unlocks the Hatchback only not all the doors.

Which accomplishes what exactly? My 13 civic and 08 Accord do the same thing (push the trunk button and only the trunk unlocks) except both of those at least pop the trunk open.
Yea I was disappointed at that worthless feature also.
