Replace Black Grille with Chrome

I just ordered my new 2017 Rallye Red EX-L Navi Hatchback. One of the things I’m not excited about is the black accent. I don’t like the grey and black rims and the black grille. I’m replacing the rims, but I need help from anyone who might not a fan of the “blackout” look either and preferred the chrome as I do. The Sedan and the Coupe both have the chrome grille. I would like to know if anyone has order Sedan or Coupe grille parts and replaced the black grille on their Hatchback. Attached are 2 pictures, the original front with a black grille and a photo shopped chrome grille. Also attached are the diagrams of the parts of the front. One is the Sedan where the center grille is a separate part from the main molding. In the Hatchback diagram the center and molding are one part.
So in a nut shell, can I order Sedan parts (number 1)71121-TBA-A01 and (number 3) 71125-TBA-A01 and replace Hatchback part (number 1) 71121-TGG-A01?

Can the black grille be removed from the Hatchback so that I would only have to order part (number 3) 71125-TBA-A01 from the Sedan and save money there too?

Obviously I would also have to order (number 2) 71124-TED-T01 and (number 4) 71129-TED-T01 from the Sedan to replace the wings on the Hatchback to complete the look. Those look very compatible. The center has been the concern. Don’t want to order something and be stuck with it.

I appreciate any information you can provide.

Really don't know if all you need is the chrome part. It looks like the hatchback has the same screws and bolts as the sedan, but if the grille is removable, why doesn't the diagram show it?

Funny you mention this, I was wondering if I could swap my chrome grille for a black version for my blue Touring, I like the black look personally.

Pretty sure looking at them, the upper bar (black or chrome) is attached to the larger grill piece, because it's all gloss black on the hatch, and matte black on the coupe/sedans. So you'd have to replace the entire grill, which means you'd have to go with the chrome/matte black.

I only have 900 miles on my Chrome rims on my new 2016 EXT.In perfect condition I'd trade for the grey wheels if ya are interested.

Deathlok, Got the rims already on order, just waiting for the darn car to arrive. I'm guessing your probably not near Fargo, ND. Don't think either of us wants to have a car with no wheels waiting for the other to swap. But I will sell them outright if anyone is interested in them.

I've got my other changes on order too. Attached is the factory side view, and my photoshopped version. The chrome handles and a "Turbo" badge coming from China, the door trim is a Honda accessory which the dealer will install. and rims were ordered by a local company here in Fargo and they will install. AR907 American Racing Rims. Still would like to swap the grille, but decided to let more Hatchback gets into the market and hope someone else swaps first and shares their story. Dealer said it rolled off assembly on Halloween. Man I can't wait to get it....

Hey, funny enough I'm also looking to swap my chrome front grill for a black one, on my 16 LX Coupe, would you be willing to sell yours?!

Someone willing to experiment with neochrome film should try it out on the grille, might be a good direction for some of you to go. On red I think it will look great

LXManual, I'll keep you posted if I swap the front grille out and will contact you if I do. Very good chance I'll buy a grille of a coupe or sedan, and will sell the black grille out right versus swapping with someone. Unless you were in the same city as me, can't image either of us wanting to be without their car while we wait for the other to send the grille. Stay tuned.

5TAR, cool NeoChrome. Haven't seen that before. Been seeing more and more painted rims in bright colors verus Chrome or black, but this is very neat.

Was going through my Facebook news feed over the weekend and came across this mugen themed 10th hatch.

I don't know about you guys but having a mugen style grille like in the below would be great. Also it's going to be one of those things easier to make in carbon fiber than something else and with that... cheaper.

It's ironic. I want the black chrome grill for my OWP 16 civic sedan. Idk if you can just swap them out though

You might not have to swap it out. Very possible that with some plasti dip or black vinyl wrap that you'll be able to cover it entirely. I don't know about you but paying $10 for a can of plasti dip, some beers and a few hours of putting in the work to get it done sounds good! Beats the cost of a new grille.

My chrome grill got smashed. I just picked up the one piece black grill to replace it I'll let you know how it goes. The chrome grill is two pieces because of the matt black back piece.
