For sure, I was referring more to the media cycle. Civic is going to get buried under all kinds of unobtainable candy...but then again it is a popular global model that is obtainable for masses of people... there may be enough traffic potential for them to try and keep Civic news top of mind... but does your average car shopper read car blogs...hmmm
I feel like the majority of people would go somewhere like Motortrend or Car and Driver to look at new cars. It's an easy way to read reviews and get an impression of a car. Or even something like consumer reports.
The fact that the civic is a mainstream car means it'll get traffic no matter what in the online headlines. No matter how many $200k hyper cars debut people are going to be looking more in depth and seriously at the cars they can afford to own. I know personally i don't read the reviews of most of the super/hyper cars, because, whats the point? I'll never afford one. I'm more interested in reading about mainstream cars and maybe some lower priced luxury cars that are still moderately obtainable. Honda's a huge automaker and they sell alot of cars. Whether the civic gets press time, it'll sell record numbers because people will just immediately show up on lots and happen upon them whether they knew about them previously or not.
As for other people that do their research before going shopping they'll see plenty of articles and reviews of the brand new, all better, totally awesome, totally different honda civic with the journalistic headlines that'll be popping up everywhere once it debuts. And alot of that fanfare will be because the current civic by comparison got such a bad rap. Slow, sloppy, low quality, barely an updated 8th gen etc. The 10th will be huge with auto reviewers and mags because its so different from the current and such a step up. The real problem will be topping the 10th with the 11th gen civic and getting as much buzz. And knowing honda the 11th gen won't be another radical change, it'll be a cosmetic upgrade at best from the 10th because that's just how honda does things. 2 model lifespans are always very similar before they decide to come out with something totally different. i.e. 5th and 6th gen, 8th and 9th gen)
