LEDs and similar tech have given designers WAY more options in terms of what they can do with lights. Both front and back. Just look at makers like Audi, which IMO have some of the coolest most modern designs with their use of different shapes. And now that LEDs and the tech is slowly coming down in price we'll only see more and more of it on mainstream models like the civic and others.
