Hi all, Just wanted to share with you an issue I have with my 3month old 1.0ltr Turbo (manual gear box)
My gear lever locks in the "neutral" position! It only happens when you change down the box from 3rd into 2nd and then flick it into neutral.(for example when you are pulling up to a junction and have to stop). The gear lever seemes to lock itself and requires quite a bit of force to free it again. I returned my car to my local Honda dealership and explained my problems with one of the service managers. He agreed that there was an problem with my car and booked it in for "an ivestigation". Anyway, to cut the story short, when i came to pick up my car he had explained that they had fully inspected the gearbox etc and could find no fault with it and then went on to say that it appears to happen to all the Civics in his showroom and therefore it is now Not a problem with my car, but a "trait" with the Civics??
Just wondering if any of you guys (or dolls) have experienced anything like this?

Hi Mark, do you mean 1.5L Turbo? I started a thread a while back about the 6-speed manual sticking on my '17 Si Coupe. Several other folks have had the same issue. Was VERY disconcerting the first time it happened, thought I was going to have to have the car towed, and then it suddenly popped back out into normalcy after forcefully wiggling it around for a good 20-30 seconds.

I too told my dealership about it. The service got in and shifted around and gave me the usual bullshit "it seems to be fine to me."

The more I spend time with this car, the more I'm disappointed in the fit, finish and overall construction.

Hi Janos,
I live in the UK and have the 1.0ltr Turbo.
I think I might have to write a letter to Honda UK about this and see what they are going to do about it. I expected the build quality to be a little bit more than this, especially from Honda!
