So the story starts with last month that I got a crack on my windshield around mid July and realized too late to get it repaired and fixed before the crack started encompassing the whole left side of the windshield.

Since the Civic is such a new car, I could not find any aftermarket windshields to replace it at a cheaper price and had already a few quotes with about 800 after labor and tax. After digging some homework on other Civic forums, saw that this was the norm since the car is not even a year old when released in the market (other ppl had them replaced with 850 and had to wait at least 3 weeks to 2 months). This is a quote for my 2016 Civic Touring also, so its definitely more pricely compared to a civic with no advanced techies.

So I made the decision to go with SafeLite and waited for about 8 days before I got a call from them that they can drop by my car next day to get it done. I scheduled the appt and after it was completed in less than 2 hours! It looked like it was before =D. Kind fella stopped by my car and got it done while I was at work.

So fellas, if you get a small crack on your windshield, get it treated ASAP and you will save lots. Still waiting to hear back from my insurance to see if I will get a deductible or not, but I am patient. Believe it is covered on my insurance.

PS. For owners with Honda Sensing, I don't believe that the monocular camera on the rear mirror attachment will need to be realigned. It was working fine for me as usual also.

Just a note for anyone with the Honda sensing, if you read the owner manual Honda states not to replace the front windshield with any ones but there's as the quality of the glass could effect how it works. FYI

Worst case scenario is your insurance might cover half of the cost of a new windshield but that's something i've seen happen a fraction of the time with these. Hopefully its covered in full. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hope your insurance will cover the new windshield. If others had this problem also, it makes me question the quality of the windshield glass. Or it just got chipped by something excessively pointy.
For me, this is kind of my worst nightmare. I drive on the PA turnpike every day and the section of road I drive on has been under construction for the 13 years I've been driving it. Hard stone hits are just part of life on that road no matter what I do it seems.

Today will be my first ride into work in the Civic since I just picked it up last night. I am anxious to see if I can avoid a lot of the damage that drive does to cars. I am especially anxious not only for the windshield but the paint on the front end...

windshield crack after four days owning my new 18hatchback..

just wondering does anyone has the same or similar windshield issue as I do .... have been driving my 2005 civic for 6 years .. the windshield never crack ,,and today I was driving my new hatchback on freeway as the fourth days I own it ( not behind a big truck or driving fast , probably 40-50 because of the traffic ) ,, suddenly I heard a cracking sound but not sure what it was by that time ... never thought of it would come from the windshield based on my driving circumstance... ....then when I arrived my place... still being in the mood excited to check on my baby-civic..... I saw a long line on my windshield ... omg .... about 10 inches ..... and the hit that created the line was just a subtly little dent ....... I love my 2018 civic so much ..... for me everything there is awesome because it has all I need ........ but ... come on .... this windshield ... just a nightmare .... and now I am reading all other people who have to repair theirs and come to a conclusion that maybe I am just one of the victims from this shitty windshield .... hope Honda can see and fix this issue positively .. cos no one want to buy such a fragile car for a brand new car . a 2xxxx worth merchandise should do better than this .

In MD my comprehensive insurance provides free windshield repair or replacement. Check your policy before paying out of pocket. It does s#ck that it takes so long to get a replacement, especially because I have the Honda Sensing and would only feel comfortable getting OEM glass.
