The Civic Coupe Will be in LA!

According to insiders Honda will debut the Civic Coupe at the LA Show in 1 weeks time.

Only the problem is, Honda isn't saying anything.

Honda has said the coupe is expected to go on sale before 2015 ends. If that still holds true and the coupe will debut at LA then Honda will be looking at an extremely quick turn around time.

We reached out to Honda earlier today and received a fierce "we have not announced those plans yet and will not be drawn on future product." Out and out denial that was not.

The source of the report was Torque News, we reached out to them for further information. After some back and forth we we're satisfied with the quality of TN's source.

He claims the Coupe will come to market starting at $18,440 plus your fees and taxes.

Sounds legit to me. The coupe was always just a smidge cheaper than the sedan (yet always came with bigger wheels/stereo than the sedan on base trims).

Given how tight lipped honda is about literally everything and anything regarding the new civic (or anything for that matter) it would make perfect sense that if the coupe is still planned to go on sale in december LA is pretty much their last option other than doing another livestream event like the sedan was.

Super pumped to see what (if any) differences between the sedan and coupe packaging there is.

I'd love to see a sport trim, different from Si...it's a dream maybe, but something like a stick with the 1.5, a bit more agressive... maybe even make Civic Coupe Sport the equivalent to Touring Sedan and then allow Si to be more traditional...

Even so, I think the 6MT wit the 2.0 is going to be an authentic Honda experience. from what I read the shifts are slick and VTEC still comes on at the same old spot ;)

I've been wondering some time if the civic coupe would follow suit with the accord coupe and start out at an LXS trim instead of LX which would get alloy wheels and an upgraded stereo over the base sedan LX. But not sure if that'll happen. I think it'd be a good move, buyers could get a stick shift but still get some of the nice things like alloys on the coupe.

Most likely it'll just end up following the sedan trims like it always has, but who knows at this point. Anything is a possible.
Now that a new coupe is coming out, think they'll use it as a base for another generation of the Civic Si Coupe or maybe even Civic Type R Coupe!

Well the Si is without a doubt... we will definitely see the Si coupe and sedan. As for Type R? Wouldn't hold my breath on that one... thinking thats going to be hatchback only variant (at least for the foreseeable future of the model).

FYI, if anyone didn't see already, honda has officially made the statement that the coupe is debuting at LA next week. They also gave some insight into when we can expect the hatch and Type R variants. They said 18 month launch... that would be Spring 2017 for the last variant, Type R.

I was wondering when the press release would be out... For the life of me I can't figure out why they left it until 1 week out to announce, I also can't help wonder if their hand was forced with the initial report from TN and then it getting propagated by this site and others...

I find their wording interesting... a 5-door hatchback and the first-ever Civic Type-R model for the U.S. market, comprising the most diverse and innovative lineup in Civic's 43-year history.

Maybe I'm just looking for something, but it almost sounds like they're leaving the door open on CTR body styles...
Spring 2017 sounds just about right, that's been the usual trend throughout the industry with special models releasing about a year after the launch of it's basemodel variant. Hopefully in the months and even weeks leading up to the debut we'll see teasers, even spy shots.

It might be the case that they make the Type-R something other than a hatchabck. It could be a coupe for all we know. They definitely have not committed to the hatchback body type in the press and we know that hatchbacks aren't quite as popular in the US as they are in Europe.
