Trunk Leak

Has anyone else noticed a leak in the trunk? After a heavy rain or a car wash, we noticed very wet padding on only the left side. Upon further investigation, I noticed a pool of water in the spare tire section.

Since it is only a month old, it is under warranty, but the dealership doesn't seem terribly interested in helping me out. Oh, their words are filled with niceties but the follow-up is non-existent. Any thoughts?

Water leaks lead to bad things like rust, mold, and electrical problems. They are probably also time consuming to troubleshoot. If the dealer doesn't want to take it seriously, try a different dealer or call Honda.

I had this happen with a Kia I owned once, the culprit was bad seals for the tail lights. As the previous poster said, take it to a different dealership. Under warranty or not, they should be interested in fixing it. And I'd also call Honda to report the attitude of that dealership, believe me it WILL matter to Honda corporate.
Honda has a twitter page you can try if the dealerships won't take care of the leak. I took a look and it seems like they deal with customer complaints with it.

Thanks for the comments; they are helpful. Does anyone know the correct dept. and phone number to corporate Honda?
Honda may also be interested if they've heard this from another owner or two already.
Yes, that is for sure. I have a 2016 Honda Civic EX with sensing. If any others out there have similar issues with their 2016 Civic, please let me know! Thank would be appreciated.

Yes, bought my EX-L December 22nd 2015. Had a box in the trunk and took it out after heavy rain and the bottom of the box was wet. Had my jacket on top of the box and it was wet. I took it in to be checked at dealership on Monday the 4th, it's Wednesday the 6th with no word. I'm going by today to see what's up. Only good thing is they gave me a loaner car so that has kept me quiet.

Keep us updated guys! Interested to hear the cause of the leak. Maybe a faulty seal?
vjacobson, thanks so much for your post. It makes me feel like I am not the only one. Obviously, we all want to hear what your dealership finds out. My dealership has agreed to give me a rental for the duration of my trunk leak fix, but it won't be until early Feb., my choice. So, yes, please keep us posted!!!
Thanks, Dick
1-800-999-1009 Press option 7 to report a problem and or report a dealership, I'd do BOTH

I checked my trunk today after taking it thru the car wash, totally dry

Took my car to the dealership today, 1/12/2016 to resolve the leak in the left side of the trunk. They arranged for me to get a rental car on them and told me it could be resolved in a day or several. I will keep you posted!
Got my car back today. They found a pin hole on the left side of where the trunk seals on the top left. It wasn't the seal, rather a metal joint that wasn't sealed properly. The right side was done; the left side wasn't. It is supposed to rain in our area tomorrow (Friday), so I will let you know. If the "fix" works I will try to include pictures if anyone is interested.

Thanks for posting the update. Hopefully that's the last of it. Living in a very wet climate, and waiting for our new Civic, this one got my attention. Out of curiosity, was yours a 19X (Greensburg) or a 2HG (Alliston) car?
My Civic's VIN starts with 2HG, Dick.

Hopefully it stays dry!!
UPDATE: Well, it rained hard, at times, last night for several hours, and I went out this morning, not knowing what to expect. I nervously opened the trunk. It was BONE DRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before I took it to the dealership, it would have shown evidence of water leaking. Nothing this morning. There is so much to like about the new 2016 Civic. It is a huge improvement over the past few. I have had a few, a 2010, a 2013, and now this one.
If you need to see where the leak was, I can try to attach a picture if you are having the same problem.
