I have a 2018 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring I got in late March. I didn't realize there was a difference in the Sport & Sport Touring radios, but if there is, I don't know any reason why you couldn't upgrade to one like mine, since it is a genuine Honda part, maybe just one that does more functions. I am near positive that the radio would fit into your dash. The dealer might be correct (But I don't know for sure), about using a non Honda radio upgrade. The radio is tied into doing a lot of the car functions, so I can see many reasons for keeping a radio specifically geared to, & made for that car, & paired to that model car. It is not like the old days when it was easy to switch if you could match up the harness/proper wiring. Call the toll free Honda Tech Support number. I am sure they will be happy to advise about any warranty questions, & if it is possible to upgrade to a different Honda radio like mine, & what the differences might be, between my radio & yours if any.
