Type R to also come in sedan and coupe form?

Saw this... it's completely unsubstantiated but:

some website said:
Besides the Civic Type R hatch, which has already been confirmed for the US , Honda is also expected to launch a Type R sedan and Type R coupe.

Frankly I'm surprised by this if it's actually true. If it is my take away is that the Type R production numbers will be a lot higher than I was thinking. I kind of figured this would be a niche vehicle they only sell for a couple years, not multiple bodies.

I'm sort of hoping they will do a 3-door hatch :), I like my hatches tiny.

I read that this morning too. If the hatch is available as an R and the ride is not too harsh, then this is a game changer for me.
A civic R hatch ? That's better than I could have hoped for. Then again, pricing could be an issue for me if it gets too crazy.

I'm beside myself to see a picture of an R Hatch ! I'm pulling for 5 doors myself. A hatch to me is for hauling things, and no rear doors means a lot of leaning in to do things.
Being it's a global model I wouldn't be surprised. Thinking they will introduce as a sedan or hatch first.

Nobody really knows but most likely it's going to be around $35k -- STI and Focus RS territory. Not too bad if you're into Civics and performance cars, but crazy if you just want a decent hatchback for hauling groceries. If you want it for both (like me) then it's a steal.

Who wouldn't want it for both...>:) It would be crazy not to...;)
well...

I think when we talk about competitors and what they do we need to consider that there's really no product on the market that offers this level of performance with the same availability and Honda loyalty... the only thing I can think of is the Mustang...

IMO we need to stop thinking of the type R as the STI or golf R and we need to start thinking about it like the EcoBoost Mustang and what thats meant for younger buyers.

Everyone says the $30K will be too much... tell that to the kids snapping up $35K ecoboost mustang leases... THATS THE CROWD HONDA NEEDS!!!
Pinetop makes a good point, and for that reason honda shouldn't have a problem selling it for whatever price they decide on which of course will be practical, they're not new to this.

That's a good point, there isn't another Honda performance vehicle (aside from the upcoming NSX, but whatever). Though I think there's a limit to the price the Honda fans will spend before they start looking at the STI and Focus RS.

It's kind of a amazing how many different Civic variants are going to be out there in a couple years. 5 sedan trims, a coupe, a hatch, probably at least 2 Si models, and hypothetically speaking 3 Type R's. Nuts.

Fortunately we might be getting the baby NSX, something that will be a hybrid of the perfmance found in the upcoming Civic TYpe R and the NSX we now know.

We can't forget the new CRZ is on the way as well, and it's supposed to be using a slightly detuned 2.0T from the Type R, possibly paired with a hybrid (or not) as well as a 1.5T paired with hybrid (according to what honda has hinted to MT and others). It could even possibly get e-AWD like it had at Pike's Peak.
Wow, the new CRZ wasn't even on my radar. If it doesn't have a rear seat though I don't think I'd be interested. Though I still look at the old CRX's with jealousy when I see them.
The 2015 Honda CRZ? I just vaguely remember it for the guppy like grille.

I think the CRZ is riding out 1 more year (with the new refresh debuting at SEMA) and then late 2016 we'll see the 2017 CRZ which is supposed to be a total overhaul of the car. New engines. New tech. I believe they said it's even getting a scaled down version of the new global platform from the civic.

I think that's also the crowd that is on the 84 month payment plan. They are also the ones who the industry is concerned about defaulting on those loans.

We had the housing crash, the student loan crash and now the focus is on the auto loan industry.

i wish that I could believe that both people and companies are smart enough to create such a situation, but history tells me otherwise. People will take the loans, and banks and car companies will offer them.
