Saw this... it's completely unsubstantiated but:

some website said:
Besides the Civic Type R hatch, which has already been confirmed for the US , Honda is also expected to launch a Type R sedan and Type R coupe.

Frankly I'm surprised by this if it's actually true. If it is my take away is that the Type R production numbers will be a lot higher than I was thinking. I kind of figured this would be a niche vehicle they only sell for a couple years, not multiple bodies.

I'm sort of hoping they will do a 3-door hatch :), I like my hatches tiny.

Then again, pricing could be an issue for me if it gets too crazy.
Nobody really knows but most likely it's going to be around $35k -- STI and Focus RS territory. Not too bad if you're into Civics and performance cars, but crazy if you just want a decent hatchback for hauling groceries. If you want it for both (like me) then it's a steal.

there's really no product on the market that offers this level of performance with the same availability and Honda loyalty...
That's a good point, there isn't another Honda performance vehicle (aside from the upcoming NSX, but whatever). Though I think there's a limit to the price the Honda fans will spend before they start looking at the STI and Focus RS.

It's kind of a amazing how many different Civic variants are going to be out there in a couple years. 5 sedan trims, a coupe, a hatch, probably at least 2 Si models, and hypothetically speaking 3 Type R's. Nuts.
