What is the best wax for paint protection?

6846 Views 11 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Becky
I have a porta cable buffer and pads and always wash and wax my cars, but this is the first time I have a car with Aegean Blue Metallic and I'm a little lost as to what is the best wax for this specific color, I will find out one way or another but would like to hear suggestions?
Also if you can, tell me what color is your civic and what wax you use for it to best protect your paint.
Thanks.

Not sure about the best but a few of them have been mentioned on the forum; meguiars #7, aquapel (lasts longer but beads slower), the "nano" or ceramic coating.
Thank you.

Thanks for the answer, believe it or not my cars have always been silver and always had wax them with Gold Class Carnauba Plus Paste Wax, it's amazing, a little work but it kept my Accord looking new after 14 yrs. :D
This is my first Blue car so don't know if this wax is the best for it but I'll give it a little test. ;)
I did a somewhat extensive research online and decided to give it a try to Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax, just finish pampering my Civic a couple hours ago and the finish result is simply amazing, I mean is a new car and paint is perfect but what it did was make it super smooth which it wasn't from the dealer, now if I slide the back of my hand on it, it simply slides with zero resistance, so far I love it, will keep the forum updated as to lasting effects of it. Thanks everyone for the info provided.;)
The liquid does a good job. I prefer the paste wax. Seems to last a little longer on the paint

Since '98, I've had very good results with Zaino and highly recommend it:

Zaino is good stuff. I never had good luck with the longevity of the wax on the paint though. Seems to wear off quickly.

Becky, I prefer Zaino because it's not wax, but some polymer stuff that bonds with the clear coat at the molecular level. After applying Zaino, you didn't subsequently wash your car with dishwashing liquid did you? I know Zaino recommends washing with Dawn before applying their product, because it's caustic, and removes everything down to the clear coat.

On my vehicles, the Zaino would easily last six months.
The only time I use Dawn liquid dish soap is to strip all the old wax from the paint. Zaino is good, goes on like butter, comes of easily, even smells nice :)laugh:). I just find that it doesn't last 6 months on my cars.
